The Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance (TABF) launched the inaugural 2026 Taiwan’s Global Pathfinders Initiative (TGPI) – International Finance in Practice in partnership with the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, bringing 20 young Taiwanese to Frankfurt for more than two weeks of financial training, institutional visits and international exchange.
The program concluded with a Closing Ceremony and Capstone Project Presentations at the Frankfurt School on September 11, attended by Dr. Yi-Cheng Kao, President of TABF, the TABF delegation, and Ms. Fatma Dirkes, Vice President of the Frankfurt School. Participants turned classroom learning and first-hand market observation into practical proposals, receiving professional feedback on their capstone project presentations..
The training covered Sustainable Finance and Digital Finance & Innovation, including climate risk, the carbon transition, sustainability disclosure, fintech, digital banking and AI applications. Visits to Deutsche Bundesbank and Deutsche Börse brought these themes to life through direct exposure to central banking, capital markets, and financial innovation.
The youth participants also joined the International Promotion Forum for Taiwanese Finance, held by TABF’s Financial Research Institute (FRI). Hsou-Yuan Chuang, Vice Chairperson of the Financial Supervisory Commission, and Dr. Kao introduced Taiwan’s financial markets from both policy and market perspectives, helping increase Taiwan’s visibility to global investors.
Dr. Kao said:
“As sustainability, digitalization, and AI reshape finance, the next generation needs more than technical expertise. They need a global perspective, cross-disciplinary capabilities and an innovative mindset.”
“Moreover, as Taiwanese manufacturers have rapidly expanded their production from Asian bases into advanced markets such as Europe and the US, the financial industry requires talent with international mindsets and cross-border service capabilities. TABF will continue to connect young Taiwanese with international institutions, markets, and expertise, turning global exposure into practical capabilities for the future of Taiwan’s financial sector.”
Through TGPI, TABF is helping young talent move beyond learning about global finance to experiencing it firsthand, building the perspective, skills and confidence to contribute to Taiwan’s increasingly interconnected financial landscape.
