September 10, 2026: The Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance (TABF) convened international financial leaders in Frankfurt to explore Taiwan’s growing opportunities as an Asian asset management hub, partnering with the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) of Taiwan and Frankfurt School of Finance & Management to strengthen links between Taiwan and Europe on capital and talent.
Held under the theme “Unlocking Taiwan’s Edge as Asia’s Asset Management Hub,” the Taiwan Financial Briefing Forum – Frankfurt Edition brought together representatives from financial institutions, regulators, policy circles, academia and think tanks, as well as Taiwanese financial institutions in Germany. Discussions focused on Taiwan’s policy and market roadmap for an Asian asset management hub, sustainable finance transformation, and opportunities for international investment and cross-border collaboration.
Hsou-Yuan Chuang, Vice Chairperson of Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission, and Dr. Yi-Cheng Kao, President of TABF, joined Fatma Dirkes, Vice-president of Frankfurt School and Head of Professional and Executive Education and financial professionals from Germany, Holger Mertens, Managing Director and Head Portfolio Manager Global Credit at Amova and beyond for discussions spanning policy, capital markets, and international investment. Vice Chairperson Hsou-yuan Chuang introduced the innovative development and policy objectives of Taiwan's financial market from a policy perspective, while President Yi-cheng Kao explained Taiwan's economic growth and emerging opportunities in the financial market through the lens of mutual trust. Participants examined the opportunities and strategic challenges facing Taiwan as it develops its asset management market, including how sustainable finance can help connect Taiwan with global capital.
With its strong industrial and economic base, resilient capital markets, and globally competitive technology and semiconductor industries, Taiwan is leveraging its economic and financial strengths to deepen its role in global capital markets. With the AI-driven acceleration of growth and advancement of its Asian asset management hub initiative, Taiwan is creating new opportunities for international investors, strengthening its position as a bridge between Asian markets and global capital.
Frankfurt, one of Europe’s leading financial centers, provided a strategic platform to introduce Taiwan’s market development and policy direction to the German and broader European financial community, while opening new avenues for cooperation between Taiwan and Europe.
The forum also welcomed young participants undertaking study in Frankfurt through Taiwan’s “Taiwan Global Pathfinders Initiative,” providing an exceptional opportunity for the next generation of Taiwanese talent to engage directly with international financial professionals. The exchange broadened young participants’ perspectives and professional networks, connecting internationalization with talent development.
Dr. Yi-Cheng Kao, President of TABF, said:
“Building Taiwan into an Asian asset management hub requires an alignment of policy, market momentum, and globally minded talent. TABF will continue to work closely with governments, financial institutions, and international academic partners to deepen financial and talent exchanges between Taiwan and Europe, expand global partnerships, and strengthen Taiwan’s competitiveness and influence in Asia’s asset management landscape.”
The Frankfurt forum is part of TABF’s broader international engagement to promote Taiwan’s financial market, strengthen global partnerships, and support the talent and capabilities needed for Taiwan’s next stage of financial internationalization.
