The official opening ceremony for FinTech Taipei 2025 Forum was held on October 22 at TABF. Co-hosted by the Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable (TFSR) and the Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance (TABF) under the guidance of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), the event brought together representatives from financial institutions, startups, regulatory bodies, and foreign trade offices in Taiwan.
The opening ceremony was held in conjunction with the Digital Sandbox PoC (Proof of Concept) Awards. Dr. Jin-Lung Peng, Chairperson of the FSC, personally presented the awards, which highlighted breakthroughs in cost efficiency and fraud prevention under the theme “Innovative Solutions, Intelligent Finance.”
Featuring participation from fintech experts across eight countries and key leaders from Taiwan’s financial, governmental, educational, and research sectors, the forum had three key themes: virtual assets, AI, and fraud prevention technology.
In his remarks, Dr. Ray Beam Dawn, Chairman of TFSR, underscored the growth of the ecosystem since 2018, including FinTechSpace, the FinTech Co-Creation Platform, and the FinTech Industry Alliance – all aimed at uniting institutional resources to drive industry-wide development.
TABF Chairman Dr. Paul C.D. Lei emphasized that FinTech Taipei is Taiwan’s flagship fintech event. He announced that next year’s forum will be held in an exhibition format, further promoting international collaboration, and offering an even broader showcase of cutting-edge solutions.
Professor Michael Mainelli, Chairman of Z/Yen Group, highlighted Taipei’s remarkable 15-place jump in the latest Global Financial Centres Index 38 ranking, recognizing Taiwan’s impressive progress in financial service innovation – a collective achievement of the nation’s financial professionals.
On Day 2, the conference focused on local momentum, showcasing Taiwan’s financial institutions and tech giants. AWS, Google Cloud, IBM, and Microsoft shared their latest AI applications in finance, and university student teams presented their creative fintech solutions, reflecting the innovative energy of the younger generation.
The FinTechSpace Day featured PoC demonstrations, international startup sessions with fintech teams from Israel and Canada, and exhibitions from the FinTech Industry Alliance, further spotlighting Taiwan’s fintech creativity and cross-border impact. Over the two days, Taiwan’s fintech innovation and growing international engagement were on full display.
