Financial Explorer 62 Gives Visitors a Lesson in Taiwan’s Financial History

According to Taiwan Historiography Magazine, Taiwan has only 14 museums related to finance: 10 banks, mainly focusing on their own history, two currency museums, and the Taiwan Stock Museum and the Customs Museum. Not all banks have a history museum, and Taiwan also lacks a venue to display the history and evolution of its overall financial development. The central bank has a digital museum, but it focuses on currency, and hard to explain the history of Taiwan's financial liberalization, internationalization, and digitalization over the past century. Therefore, TABF established Taiwan's first financial museum.

The central bank has a digital museum, but it focuses on currency, and hard to explain the history of Taiwan's financial liberalization, internationalization, and digitalization over the past century. Therefore, TABF established Taiwan's first financial museum.

After two years of planning and preparation, the first museum on the history of banking in Taiwan designated by the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) and implemented by TABF has now been completed. Located on the 3rd floor on the site of the TABF headquarters at No. 62, Section 3, Roosevelt Road, the venue is accordingly named Financial Explorer 62.

The museum displays the trajectory and achievements of Taiwan’s financial development in multimedia form, leading visitors to broaden their financial horizons from a historical perspective. The key exhibit is divided into five periods: development, take-off, challenges, transformation, and prospects, spanning Taiwan’s history from the colonial era into the future.

Travel back to experience the changes in banking services in Taiwan over the past century, as well as the splendor of bank lobbies from different eras. The “Century Bank Theater” creates an immersive interactive experience, adding to the sense of presence.

Meanwhile, according to TABF’s 2022 Taiwan Financial Lives Survey, 40% of Taiwanese between the ages of 20 and 29 are close to financially illiterate; this is the only group that has regressed in financial risk resilience. In order to promote literacy education, FE62 includes a customized financial management game “Financial Happiness Experience” targeting junior and senior high school students. By simulating real financial goals and investment environments, and even unexpected expenses, participants can select stocks, funds, fixed deposits, and insurance to learn about asset allocation and risk awareness, and understand the ultimate meaning of financial management.
