The FinTech Taipei expo was finally back in person in 2022 – the first time since the start of the pandemic! Held in the Taipei World Trade Center, it brought together exhibitors, experts, and representatives from 19 countries, including Taiwan, and attracted 35,000 visits from members of the public.

Held in the Taipei World Trade Center, it brought together exhibitors, experts, and representatives from 19 countries, including Taiwan, and attracted 35,000 visits from members of the public.
FinTech Taipei 2022 was advised by the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), and co-sponsored by the Taiwan Financial Services Roundtable (TFSR) and Taiwan Academy of Banking and Finance (TABF). The opening ceremony featured Vice Premier Shen Jong-chin, Chairman Huang Tien-mu of the FSC, Acting Chairman Patrick Lee and Secretary General Wu Tang-chieh of TFSR, and President Hank Huang of TABF. The theme of “More Fintech, More Different” highlighted the profound changes in the industry in the post-pandemic era.
A variety of activities took place over the two days from October 28-29, including forums, startup presentations, and matchmaking. Seminars covered topics such as contactless banking, digital supervision, blockchain, digital identity, and payments ecosystems. TABF also presented the results of its 2022 Financial Lives survey, showing somewhat improved resilience since the previous survey results from 2020.
Each of these topics reinforced the increasing complexity of the financial sector and its role in society. “In the future, the finance industry will become a microcosm of the overall national economy and an important core element driving Taiwan’s growth,” said Jean Chiu, Acting Chair of TABF. Challenges such as cybersecurity, money laundering, sustainability, and inclusion persist and will only increase over time, necessitating continued exchange between a variety of domestic and international stakeholders.
